SC Project CR-T · 63mm & 70mm

20–25%
quieter.

SC Project say the CR-T cannot take a DB killer. Twelve prototypes later, here it is. Slides in, no drilling, out again in two minutes.

BARREL DB KILLER-FOR SC PROJECT CRT - Barrel Exhaust
The difference

Same bike. Same road.
Same day.

How much quieter depends on your setup. Run the CR-T as a slip-on with stock headers and cat intact and the drop is at the top of the range. Run it on free-flow headers as a full system and there is less restriction upstream, so the reduction is smaller.

Unchanged
volume down, character intact
Worked example
Yamaha MT-09, CR-T as a slip-on with stock headers: 115 dB → ~103 dB at 4,000 rpm.

Figures are from one measured configuration. Your result depends on engine size, exhaust layout and whether the cat is still fitted.

Turn the sound on.

No studio, no editing, no second take. One run with the DB killer fitted, one without.

The tone doesn't change. The character you paid for is still there — it's the volume that comes down.

You keep the exhaust. You lose the tinnitus.

Why this exists

You love the exhaust.
You just can't ride it.

The CR-T is a MotoGP race replica. It was never designed for a Tuesday morning commute, and it shipped with no way to quieten it — because SC Project say one cannot be fitted.

That leaves riders with three bad options: live with it, drill the end cap and hope, or buy a second exhaust for the street.

We built the fourth.

“Before installing the baffle I felt like I had tinnitus after a 15 minute ride.”

“Riding in the city without earplugs made my brain hurt and my ears are still ringing. It sounds amazing, but it is a bit anti-social how loud it is.”

“There is not the possibility to have a db-killer inside the CR-T silencer.”

What you get

One machined insert.
That's the whole job.

Barrel DB Killer insert
Barrel DB Killer insert
SS304 stainless, black powder coated, in your chosen size — 63mm or 70mm.
Hardened grub screws
Pre-fitted at 120° around the collar. They grip from the inside, so nothing shows.
Allen key
The only tool you need. Fitting takes two to three minutes.

The perforation pattern, internal diameter and length are what do the work — sized across twelve prototypes to cut sound waves while letting exhaust gas escape freely.

Fitment

It fits the muffler,
not the bike.

Ducati, BMW, Kawasaki, MV Agusta, Yamaha, Royal Enfield — the bike is irrelevant. If you're running an SC Project CR-T, this fits. You only need one measurement.

01

Confirm it's a CR-T

The model name is printed on the sleeve. CR-T only — this does not fit GP, GP-EVO, S1, SC1-R or any other SC Project model.

02

Measure the outlet

Measure straight across the opening at the lip, edge to edge. A ruler is enough. It will be 63mm or 70mm — there is nothing in between.

03

Order that size

Still unsure? Send a photo of your muffler on WhatsApp and we'll confirm the size before you pay.

The question everyone asks

Will this damage
my engine?

The short answer: no

The concern is fair. Restrict a race exhaust too far and back pressure rises, which does affect the engine — and the CR-T's walls are thin.

That is precisely what this was designed around. Twelve prototypes were tested across engines from 600cc to 1100cc to find the balance between cancelling excess sound waves and letting exhaust gas escape freely.

It is a filter, not a plug.

What we'd still tell you

Sustained riding on the rev limiter with the DB killer fitted is not recommended. Heading to a track day? Take it out. That takes about two minutes.

We'd rather tell you the limits than sell you something that surprises you six months in.

Tested and used by superbike mechanics across 60+ countries.

0
Muffler failures reported in 8 years.
Across 2,500+ units in more than 60+ countries, not one CR-T has been damaged by our DB killer.
Reversible

Quiet on Monday.
Loud on Sunday.

This is not a modification. Three hardened grub screws set at 120° hold it from the inside. Loosen them and it slides straight out.

Nothing drilled. Nothing cut. Your muffler is untouched and your resale value is intact.

The CNC-tuned lip and black powder coat mean it reads as part of the exhaust, not an add-on bolted to the end of it.

“Made a HUGE difference. I bought my motorcycle used and it came with an SC Project exhaust which sounds amazing, but it was unbearably loud. Before installing the baffle I felt like I had tinnitus after a 15 minute ride. The sound is still great after the 2-3 minute install. HIGHLY recommend.”

Questions

Before you order

Does this fit my bike?

The bike is irrelevant. This fits the SC Project CR-T muffler in 63mm or 70mm outlet diameter. If your bike wears a CR-T it fits — Ducati, BMW, Kawasaki, MV Agusta, Yamaha, Royal Enfield or anything else.

How do I know if I have 63mm or 70mm?

Measure straight across the opening at the lip of the muffler, edge to edge. There are only two sizes. If you're unsure, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we'll confirm before you order.

Will it fit other SC Project exhausts?

No. This is designed specifically for the CR-T. It does not fit GP, GP-EVO, GP-TECH, S1, SC1-R, X-Plorer or any other model. Those shipped with their own DB killers — the CR-T did not, which is why this exists.

Do I need to drill or cut anything?

No. It slides into the outlet and is held by three hardened grub screws at 120°. Your muffler is not modified in any way, and it comes out in two minutes.

Will it damage my engine or muffler?

Twelve prototypes were tested across 600cc to 1100cc engines to balance sound reduction against exhaust gas escape. In eight years and 2,500+ units, not one muffler failure has been reported. We do advise against sustained riding on the rev limiter with it fitted — remove it for track use.

How much quieter will it be?

Expect a 20–25% reduction. As a worked example, an MT-09 running the CR-T as a slip-on with stock headers measured 115 dB without and roughly 103 dB with, at 4,000 rpm. The tone is preserved — it will not sound stock.

Why does the reduction vary?

It depends on what sits upstream of the muffler. If you run the CR-T as a slip-on with stock headers and the catalytic converter still fitted, there is already restriction in the system and the DB killer takes you to the top of the range. On a full free-flow system with race headers and no cat, gas moves faster with less restriction, so the same insert reduces less. Engine capacity matters too.
