"The most important thing is to have a good relationship with the bike... you have to understand what she wants. I think of a motorcycle as a woman, and I know that sounds silly, but it's true." - Valentino Rossi

The Biker Lifestyle

If battery problems in your motorcycle give you sleepless nights, you sure love your motorcycle. If you care for your motorcycle as much as you care for your girlfriend, it is the first sign that you're living the biker lifestyle.

But how do you describe something so personal? How do you describe the biker lifestyle?

A good place to start (according to us) would be to consider the cause behind someone choosing a biker lifestyle.

Living the biker lifestyle means different things to different people. To some people, it merely means owning a bike and wearing a "biker t-shirt." To others, it doesn't even involve owning a bike at all. Rather it's just the feeling of being part of a group or club even if they don't ride.

But to those wild few, the biker lifestyle is all they know. The rush of the wind in their hair, the hum of the engine beneath them, and the expanse of endless roads drive the most hardcore bikers to set out on new adventures and hope to rediscover a part of their soul that they had once lost.

The other big selling point of the biker lifestyle is the companions. The rider buddies often end up becoming our second family. We share your victories and losses with them and they stick with us through thick and thin. Whether it's the bike they choose, the ink on their arms, or their friends. The decisions made are lasting.

Here are a few guidelines to start the perfect biker lifestyle:

  • Why We Ride: “Ride to live, live to ride!” is perhaps the best phrase that describes the life of a “real biker”. There are VERY few things in a biker's life that are of even comparable importance to his motorcycle and his biking! It's a lifestyle like no other, commitment, and happiness like none other!
  • The Brotherhood of Bikers: The “brethren of bikers” is like no other. These guys aren't just people who share the same type of machine, but the same type of passion! While mostly always these guys would be in a motorcycle club or at least a riding club, their camaraderie extends to just about anybody and everybody on two wheels! Whether it's at the biker pub, a charity rally, or out there on the open road, these guys are always looking out for each other!
  • The Mechanical Skills: Most bikers have more miles on their motorcycles than a cabbie would have on their car! No matter how great their bikes are, things are bound to go off every once in a while. So much so that they stopped the hassle of taking their bikes to the workshop. They're always caring for their bike and love working on them. Fixing their bike on their own is a matter of pride for them!

We hope that this guide gave you a better understanding of the biker lifestyle, how to get involved, and how to start biking. There's no denying that biking can be an exhilarating experience and a way of life. It's certainly worth trying if you've never tried it before, and starting a biking journey can be as simple as buying your first bike!

That being said, there are certain things you must know before diving in headfirst so make sure to educate yourself on all matters biking before you embark on your first adventure.
